Our history

The work that gave rise to the Iglesia Presbiteriana de Panamá began in 2011 through the Presbyterian Agency for Transcultural Missions (APMT) of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil, with the pioneering missionary work of Gilberto Botelho.

Since then, the congregation has grown in its organization as a local church. In 2025 it took an important step in establishing local Presbyterian leadership with the election and installation of three national elders.

How we seek to serve

  • Bible teaching

We teach the Word of God so that the congregation may know, love and live the truth.

  • Discipleship and maturity

We walk alongside believers so that they grow in knowledge, character, self-control and an increasingly responsible life before God.

  • Equipping for service

Pastors and elders seek to care for, teach and equip the church so that every believer grows in maturity and can serve with the gifts and responsibilities they have received.

  • Training and multiplication

We seek to train believers who are able to serve, teach, walk alongside and disciple others, so that the gospel may be known and more people may grow as disciples of Christ.

  • Vocation and daily life

We encourage believers to serve God faithfully in their family, work, profession and the other responsibilities of life.

  • Mission and church planting

We desire to train new workers, bear witness to the gospel and contribute to the planting of more Reformed churches in Panama.
